Meet Mila Rose. Mila is a 3 month old amazing little girl who was born with a heart defect known as a complete AV canal.
Atrioventricular canal defect (AV canal) is a combination of heart problems resulting in a defect in the center of the heart. The condition occurs when there's a hole between the heart's chambers and problems with the valves that regulate blood flow in the heart. Untreated, atrioventricular canal defect can cause High Blood Pressure in the lungs and Heart Failure. After Angiography and Echocardiography of Mila's heart, the cardiologists have recommended heart surgery to close the hole in the heart and to reconstruct the valves. They have informed her parents that she requires a major open heart surgery within the next few weeks. She has been referred to one of the top Cardiac Surgeons in the country for her surgery because she only weighs 8lbs and will require extra special care for this high risk procedure. This surgeon is located at Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania(CHOP), about 5 hours drive from her family home in Yorktown, Virginia. Mila will likely be in hospital for somewhere between one to five weeks and she may need to return for follow-up visits in the future as well. We are hoping to help her Mom and Dad and her big brother and sister with expenses for the trip including gas, hotel stays, food, etc. Please help us get Mila the care she needs.
