Help get Etty back on her feet.

Donation protected
Earlier this summer Ettienne de la Boetie, our 10-year-old Puppers suddenly lost all feeling and control of her back legs. She could no longer stand, walk, or even use the bathroom on her own. After several trips to the emergency veterinary hospitals, the Neurologist, an MRI, many sleepless nights, and a bill for several thousand dollars we got some good news - she could at least partially recover.

The Veterinary Neurologists at CARE diagnosed her with an FCE (fibrocartilaginous embolism), a form of mini-stroke that can affect dogs of any age, and while terrifying and tragic can be managed with physical therapy, time, and medication. She will never completely recover, but with continuing treatment, she can live a full and happy life. We've made it so far with the loans and gifts from friends and family, whose support has been invaluable, but now we need your help. We are seeking $5,000 to help repay a loan for her emergency care, as well as offset the ongoing costs of medication, follow up visits, and physical therapy - if possible adding hydrotherapy.

Progress
Week 1-2 - Had to manually assist her urinating, allowing her to defecate on puppy pads and clean her.
Week 3 Able to Urinate and Defecate on her own, but we have to lift her with a special harness so she could move around. Feeling returned to one leg.
Week 4 Regained ability to stand on her own, recovered feeling in her other leg, but lots of pain when attempting physical therapy.
Week 5 Follow up with the vet, changed medications, Started multiple daily PT sessions.
Week 6 Able to stand and awkwardly walk very short distances on own. Still requires assistance to stand long enough to eat, or walk well enough to use the bathroom.
...
At this point, recovery is measured in weeks and months instead of days. Etty requires around-the-clock supervision to ensure she doesn't harm herself while moving around. We cannot afford a qualified pet sitter, so at this time, we're unable to leave the house together as a couple.

How Your Donations Will Be Used

$4300 - Repayment of Loan for MRI/Hospitalization/Diagnosis to family members
$90 (Monthly) - Prescription Anti Inflammatory Medications
$60 (Monthly) - CBD Cookies - Doctor recommended for helping with inflammation and pain management, especially with PT.
$100 (Monthly) - PT and Follow Up Appointments.

Our goal is to raise $300 for the beginning of October which would be a double our first payment and a total of $5000 by November which would pay off the loan entirely, and offset the first six months of costs for her care and convalescence. Any additional funding will help increase Etienne's comfort or therapy. We are grateful that someone was able to help us secure a loan, but we need your help in paying it back.

Thank you, everyone, who has supported our efforts to keep Etty comforted and aid in her recovery. The Amazon Wishlist  gifts made her return from the hospital comfortable and helped us transition to our new normal. It remains up for some of her ongoing needs.  We cannot thank you enough for your support then and moving forward with our girl.
