Help get Daniel off the streets of San Francisco

 

 

Hi my name is Daniel and I’m a homeless street artist. I’ve been homeless for going on 4 years and I’m ready to turn things around. I launched this campaign because I’m asking for your help to get me off of the streets. My health and safety have recently been seriously compromised and this is a pressing matter for both my wellbeing and my career as an artist.

 

Over the last year and a half, I have completely sobered myself from my addiction to heroin and have not used any narcotics. Instead, I have turned my full focus and attention into my art.

 

Every day, I spend all of my free time working on my art posted up in front of the Westfield Mall in downtown San Francisco. Here while I create my art, I often receive generous tips from many people who pass by. To any of you who have been a part of this, I send my serious gratitude.

 

 

The money I receive in tips and donations is currently the only income I have to live off of. I use food stamps but have decided to take no other financial support from the government. My goal is to be fully self-sustainable and specifically, make a living with my art alone. Right now, my art is my only option for me to support myself and with your help, I can finally get this up and running.

 

I have been offered many opportunities to work with galleries in San Francisco because they love the work I do. Unfortunately, I have never been able to accept these offers, because they typically ask for numbers like 10 or more pieces. I am never able to hold on to more than a few of my pieces at a time because they are often stolen or damaged due to the conditions I live in.

 

Not only is my art stolen, but I have multiple times been attacked and assaulted with many of my belongings being taken from me. I additionally have dealt with some serious medical conditions that make navigating my current situation all the more difficult.

 

 

I launched this campaign to ask you to please make a gift and help me to afford at least 6 months of rent here in San Francisco. I have been denied government housing numerous times and currently have no trace of family that I could possibly stay with. Your donation to this GoFundMe will help me obtain a safe place to live for myself so I can focus on my art in good health and peace of mind.

 

Within a few months of dedicated space and time for my work, I will be completely able to support myself through the outstanding offers from galleries and other opportunities I have on the table for me.
