So you've got the comic and you know what I need. But you don't really know who I am, right?
My name is Adil Hussain, I'm 28, British Pakistani with the dream of becoming an advertising creative.
I was born out of the benefits class, due to my mum's disabilities. Despite this, she raised me single-handedly and is largely responsible for my ambition to be a creative.
My world consists of a council house, allotments for a view and responsibilities from caring for my mum to maintaining our home.
My ambition is to study at the School of Communication Arts 2.0 - the only problem is that the fees (£16.5k plus living costs) aren't affordable and there's no scholarships available. This forced me to face a harsh reality - someone like me won't be able to enrol without financial help.
I've turned to my local council, Turn2Us and everything in-between, only to return to the same dead end.
So here I am, talking to you, as I stand before Goliath with a busted sling.
During my year at SCA 2.0, my sisters will be taking on the responsibility of caring for my mum, so I can put all of my efforts towards my creative apprenticeship.
I plan to study at SCA 2.0 this year (2021) and will need your help to make that happen.
The funds will help cover the cost of accommodation, travel, tuition, utilities, supplies and food. This will enable me to be in the right environment, the right state of mind and be as prepared as possible to begin my apprenticeship.
I'm here because I want to tell stories, connect people through art direction and copy, but most of all, I want to communicate as best as I can to ensure nobody is left out of the conversation.
