Hello! My name is Ashley Young. I am a Black Queer femme presenting genderqueer; owner of Black Unicorn Tarot, freelance writer, sex educator and healer.
I am reaching out to my community through this GoFundMe campaign to realize a home in the place calling my heart - New Orleans, LA.
In June 2017, I left my marriage and started an independent life for the first time. I moved to Brooklyn, NY and for the past year have struggled to support myself financially. Despite my financial hardships, I started a new business, Black Unicorn Tarot, specializing in tarot readings for Queer and Trans People of Color and Sex Magic workshops.
I am passionate about this work. However, I cannot sustain my business and afford the cost of living in New York. In order for me to continue serving my community, I have decided it is best for me to move to New Orleans so I can stabilize myself financially and expand my business.
I am asking for $5,000 to help me cover my expenses to move to New Orleans by the end of June. These expenses include shipping my belongs across state lines, flying myself and my elderly cat Sarge from NYC to NOLA and financially securing the home of my dreams. With your contributions, not only will I be able to begin a new life in New Orleans but I will have the opportunity to bring my spiritual work to the communities that I love dearly - black, trans, queer, and genderqueer folk who deserve spiritual guidance.
What I hold even dearer to my heart is creating a home where I can feel safe, where I can spiritually heal and gain closure from a past that have been fighting to recover from. On my recent travel to New Orleans, I found that home. This campaign is an ask from the community to help me get there.
My journey to create a life of my own has received unbelievable support from the community thus far and words cannot begin to express my level of gratitude.
