 The Blaine family left Washington for what was supposed to be a five-day family vacation in Florida. Instead, their lives changed forever.

 While waiting in line for a ride at an amusement park, 14-year-old Georgie Blaine began complaining of a headache. Because they were in the Florida heat, everyone initially believed he might simply be dehydrated. Then Georgie said he could not feel his hands. Moments later, he collapsed and began having a seizure.

 His entire family watched as Georgie was rushed away in an ambulance in an unfamiliar state, thousands of miles from their home, family, friends, and support system.

 At the hospital, doctors discovered a brain tumor that was creating dangerous pressure and interfering with the flow of fluid around his brain. Georgie needed immediate surgery because the pressure on his brain had reached a critical level.

 When Georgie finally woke up after surgery, the first thing he talked about was football.

 Football is not just a game to Georgie. It is what he loves most. He has spent years working hard to improve, and just as he was beginning to come into his own as a player, everything suddenly stopped.

 Georgie was preparing to enter his freshman year of high school and had been invited to attend an invite-only, weeklong football camp with the high school team. He had already received his gear and could not wait to take the field. Because of his diagnosis and treatment, he was forced to give up the opportunity he had worked so hard to earn.

 The hardest part for Georgie has been knowing that he cannot play football alongside his friends.

 Georgie and the Blaine family are deeply connected to the Oak Harbor community. Over the years, their family has participated in Oak Harbor Youth Football, Oak Harbor Parks and Recreation basketball, Oak Harbor Basketball Club, North Whidbey Soccer Club, North Whidbey Little League, and Gridiron Football Camp.

 For more than 20 years, Georgie’s mother, Sara Blaine, RN, has served as a dedicated and compassionate labor and delivery nurse at Whidbey Island Hospital. Throughout her career, Sara has helped welcome countless babies into the Whidbey Island community, providing care, comfort, and support to mothers, newborns, and their families during some of life’s most meaningful moments. She has spent decades caring for local families when they needed her most. Now, Sara and her family need the same love and support from the community she has faithfully served.

 Georgie’s father, George Blaine, has also dedicated years to coaching children throughout the community in football, basketball, soccer, and baseball. The Blaine family has spent countless hours supporting local athletes and families. Now, they need their community to stand beside them.

 Their five-day Florida vacation turned into a 25-day stay filled with hospital visits, hotel expenses, rental-car charges, fear, and uncertainty. Because Georgie was not medically permitted to fly, the family then had to make the five-day drive from Florida back to Washington.

 Now, Georgie must undergo chemotherapy and continued treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Traveling from their home to the hospital would mean approximately four hours of driving round trip. On his doctors’ orders, Georgie must temporarily live closer to the hospital throughout his treatment.

 For the next three to four months, his family will need to rent an apartment near Seattle Children’s while also dealing with missed work, food, fuel, parking, transportation, medical expenses, and the cost of maintaining their home in Oak Harbor.

 Georgie is the oldest of three children. His parents are doing everything possible to remain strong for Georgie and his two younger brothers while navigating treatment, time away from home, separation from friends, and the financial strain that no family could have prepared for.
</div>

 We are hoping to raise $10,000 to help cover the family’s temporary housing, food, transportation, and basic living expenses during Georgie’s three to four months of treatment.
