Help Genesis fight Breast Cancer
I first heard about Genesis through a fellow St Timothy MOM’s Ministry participant. Her story touched many of us and we were all moved to want to help her get back on her feet. Here is her story...
Genesis fled the political unrest of Venezuela two years ago at the age of 27. She came to this country by herself with no family here in order to work and make a better life for herself. In order to make ends meet and to apply for political asylum, she worked two jobs, one as a Kindergarten teacher and a 2nd job at 7-Eleven. A few months ago, Genesis was found to have a malignant tumor in her breast. It was determined that she needed to have an operation to have a breast mastectomy.
In the weeks leading to the operation Genesis had to miss a lot of work. She eventually lost both of her jobs which she depended on to pay her living expenses and medical bills. Genesis also must move out of her apartment and needs a place to go. Genesis had her surgery and is recovering well. She will need to start radiation at Silvestre hospital but she has no transportation to get there. She is also looking for a well priced efficiency to move into in the Hialeah Gardens area.
We are raising money for Genesis to help her move into a new place and to help her pay for uber transportation to and from her radiology treatments. Our goal is $2,000 but any amount no matter how small will be appreciated.

Génesis huyó de los disturbios políticos de Venezuela hace dos años a la edad de 27 años. Ella vino sola a este país sin familia aquí para trabajar y tener una vida mejor. Para poder llegar a fin de mes y solicitar asilo político, trabajó en dos trabajos, uno como maestra de jardín de infantes y un segundo trabajo en 7-Eleven. Hace unos meses, se descubrió que Génesis tenía un tumor maligno en el seno. Se determinó que ella necesitaba una operación para hacerse una mastectomía mamaria.
En las semanas previas a la operación, Genesis tuvo que perder mucho trabajo. Eventualmente perdió sus dos trabajos de los que dependía para pagar sus gastos de vida y facturas médicas. También se tiene que mudar de su apartamento. Genesis tuvo su cirugía y se está recuperando bien. Tendrá que comenzar la radiación en el hospital de Silvestre, pero no tiene transporte para llegar allí. Ella también está buscando una eficiencia a buen precio para mudarse al área de Hialeah Gardens.
Estamos recaudando dinero para Genesis para ayudarla a mudarse a un nuevo lugar y para ayudarla a pagar el transporte desde y hacia sus tratamientos de radiología. Nuestra meta es $ 2,000, pero cualquier cantidad, sin importar cuán pequeña sea, será apreciada.
