Navy Veteran needs help!
Gary has known a great deal of hardship in his time. In 1976, his arm was caught in a malfunctioning drill press at a local factory and after 22 months recovered as best he could from that injury. Years later in 1997, he was the victim of a random daylight assault in Lima. He was pistol whipped and beaten by a man who left shoe print bruises on Gary’s back and chest. He would require facial reconstruction surgery and years of healing from the trauma of the beating. The man would be caught and arrested and served 7 years for his crime. Gary’s constant pain from broken bones is a constant reminder of the horrific day.
The pain takes it toll on Gary every day and with the cost of living rising as it has, his financial situation and his health deteriorated. His health would bring him to the hospital a month ago with an almost fatal infection. Nine days in ICU Step down brought him to the rehab facility.
However the insurance company only approved 20 days before he is no longer covered. Unfortunately when he arrived at the facility he had two set backs. First, his breathing treatments were not provided until the 6th day but he had, by then, developed pneumonia.
The pneumonia would require them to cut back on one of his drugs, which helped with the neuropathy pain in both hand and feet, and the pain in his neck and back from the assault. So performing his physical therapy during this time was a challenge at best but he tried as best he could to work out through the pain and pneumonia. The pneumonia is gone. The neuropathy pain is still present as they increase that medicine and he is working hard to regain his strength to go back home. Unfortunately, insurance is more than likely going to cut him off and his friends are concerned for his safety at home. He has made such great progress, if he could private pay for at least two more weeks that would give him a good chance to remain independent. Would you be able to donate $20 or more it would be appreciated!
