Help Gary and Cheryl Mendoza

Hello family and dear friends.  As you all know our Parents have touched the lives of so many over the years.  From Bobby Sox, to being involved in both of our schools and in the church, they continually have given the best parts of themselves to help others.  Over the past 2-3 years they have fallen on some pretty hard times both personally and professionally.  As many of you know, our Dad has battled cancer 6 times not to mention his 2 strokes and has not been able to really work for the past 25 years.  Almost 2 years ago Mom was laid off from her job with not much warning or time for preparation.  This forced them to move cross country 6 months ago to live with Tommy John, Rachel and the boys.   With the move cross country and lack of retirement, money was tight to begin with and this has placed an unbelievable amount of stress on our parents.  Mom had finally found a job at the University of Central Florida to assist in getting them back on their feet after the move when she found out that she needed open heart surgery to replace a valve in her heart just two weeks after starting.  We had her home less than 24 hours and we had to call 911 because she had a complete heart block and then needed a pace maker.  She is now not able to work for the next 6-8 weeks as she recovers from both surgeries. 

 

This isn’t how they imagined their “retirement” to be.  This isn’t how we imagined it to be either.  With the bills from the move, costs associated with all of their procedures we are at a loss.  We are helping as much as we can but not sure what else we can do to help.  That is why we are turning to all of you.  Hopefully you will find it in your hearts to help them out to get over this hump.
