Help Gardenia Overcome Medical Challenges

Hello, my name is Gardenia Gallego, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. I'm the 2nd of my family. In 2017, I had Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (AHUS), a condition that causes parts of my immune system to mistakenly attack the cells lining my blood vessels, leading to small blood clots. This is extremely rare.
This has been ongoing since that year until now. Dialysis was the solution to keep me alive.
As years passed by, my job led me to forget what I had. I love what I do.
Long story short, on September 4th, 2024, I had a call from my coordinator at 2 AM. A big surprise: North Shore University Hospital had a match, O negative kidney. I just got ready and headed to the hospital, and that was it. The same day, I was in surgery, ready for the transplant. I still could not believe it. Prayers from my family, my coworkers, friends, etc., have been heard.
Now, with the pre-transplant, I have to recover in order for me to keep on going. My situation isn't good, to be honest. Apart from COVID, I struggle, I really do. Mom has been on my side since day one. I'm taking all that she had in order for me to keep on track with medical bills and other expenses.
Any money donated will be used for my recovery. Any amount you're willing to contribute is so greatly appreciated, and if you aren't able to contribute money at this time, a share with your family and friends would mean the world to me.
