HERE'S MORE ABOUT OUR CAMPAIGN FOR GALLATIN CARES

The Rocky McElhaney Law Firm is partnering with Gallatin Cares, a local Sumner County organization that provides over 6000 hot meals every year and supplies over 700,000 lbs. of donated food items to some of Gallatin and Sumner County’s most needy families and individuals. Charitable monetary donations will be used to purchase grocery store gift cards to help your fellow neighbors receive the gift of food and everyday essentials that most of us take for granted.

WHY GALLATIN CARES DESERVES YOUR DONATION

Gallatin Cares has seen good times of great giving but more often than not, they struggle to keep their shelves full to continue blessing others. When this happens, food boxes of canned goods meant to feed entire families for a week begin to look more like they're meant to feed a party of one for just a few days. Despite great droughts from time to time in local giving, this organization pushes through. They've never closed their doors to people in need. They've never let anyone go hungry. They've never let anyone needing necessities go without. They help to feed, clothe, shelter, and guide folks through the storms of life– and that’s a mission all of us at the Rocky McElhaney Law Firm know a lot about. Perhaps, that why we feel so strongly compelled to ask for your support to help us make a long-lasting impact with both monetary and non-perishable physical donations this year.

Last year, our firm was able to raise $4530 for Gallatin Cares through this fundraiser's amazing supporters. We received hundreds of pounds donated canned goods from kind clients, neighbors, friends, and colleagues. Our team helped out by packing shelves full and food boxes high, unloading trucks, stocking the thrift store floor and serving its local customers during the holiday season. The strides we made last year gave Gallatin Cares a desperately needed boost to get them through the New Year and help with purchasing more food for the pantry in the leaner months of February, March and April.

This year our goal is $4500 and of course, as much and as many non-perishable food item donations as we can possible take in for Cares. We want to deck or halls so high with packed food boxes for Cares that we can't get through. We want to see the relieved looks on their committed volunteers' and employees' faces when we present them with our goal amount. We want to partner with you to help make a visible, tangible, life-changing impact for so many that truly need help in our Sumner County community.

WHAT IS GALLATIN CARES? I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT WORKS

The Gallatin Cares storefront and warehouse operates partly as an open-to-the-public thrift store and partly as a food pantry and resource center for families and individuals needing a meal, a box of food, clothing, or shelter and rehabilitation-resource assistance. The non-profit organization's thrift store puts other well-known for-profit thrift stores to shame. Cares' thrift store's merchandise depends on the generous, year-round donations from the public. 100% of the proceeds from the thrift store are funneled back into the food pantry operations and the other critical out-reach services Gallatin Cares provides. When you decide to clean out your closet or household and you truly want to make an impact with your donation- there couldn't be a worthier organization to help re-home your gently-used items. We know there are many great organizations out there, but we truly believe Gallatin Cares is doing the most good.

WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE DOES GALLATIN CARES SERVE

It's a widely accepted fallacy that many low-income households receive unlimited resources from places like Gallatin Cares, but the organization finds that many of the 500 or so local Sumner families they serve every month actually only reach out for a 1-time donation to get them through a tight spot or a rough time. While many food pantries have a long list of guidelines and hoops to jump through to get the food and necessities these families and individuals need, Gallatin Cares prides itself on helping everyone that shows up with no questions asked. It's assumed that if you need help, you will find it at Gallatin Cares. They don't discriminate. They don't judge. They only love.

WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE WORK THERE

Many of Gallatin Cares own employees once sought help from the food pantry, or needed clothing, shelter, or an escape from a dangerous domestic situation. When times are lean at the food pantry, it's these same employees that have found strength and support through Gallatin Cares that help to keep the organization open- many times with their own money. Many employees are not employees at all. Many are full-time and part-time volunteers. The success of their mission to help others lies in the passion and persistence of their team and the generosity and consistent blessings of their Sumner County neighbors like you!
