Help Gail and Tom save their family home.

Hi there,

I Belinda Heard is organising this fundraising appeal on behalf of Gail Heard and Tom Arthur to restore and save their family home. After being devastatingly damaged from a flash flooding event in Rutherglen (North East Victoria) 31st January 2022. I'm setting up this page in hope of raising much needed funds for the family home.

I have travelled 1100kms to come home after hearing the news that our family home had become effected and destroyed from the flash flooding event.

I have returned home to help my Mum (Gail Heard) and Pop (Tom Arthur) to help restore what has been left of their family home.

I have never had my Mum reply to me in my 42years if she needed me and she said yes.

This family home has been home to the Heard family since it was built in 1984. As kids Anthony, Jeremy and Belinda have seen this house get through storms, golf ball size hail stones, strong winds and even a tornado, but nothing ever to this extreme.

The aftermath of the flash flood has left the house with no carpet, most furniture removed and the loss of photo albums and keepsakes that ment the world to Gail and Tom. They can never be replaced but we can all come together to help them relive again.

Gail has not long ago lost her parents and now has lost a whole lot of sentimental items. It's must be lovely for Gail and Tom to know that all of her family come together when times are tough and all of their kids and grandkids will always come home to them.

All of us kids are bonding together to help Gail and Tom to restore their home back to a clean, repaired and liveable state as soon as we can.

This fundraiser is to assist Gail and Tom to carry out repairs such as electricity (whole house), new hot water service, major plumbing, new furniture (whole house), replacement of foundations, new wall bracing and insulation. It very important that Gail and Tom know that they are not alone and their home will be back very soon.

Life with the Covid 19 Pandemic has impacted everyone's lives in some way without losing over 30 years of memories and keepsakes as well.

I had no idea how bad the damage was until I saw the aftermath. If anything had been soaking under 1 metre of water it had to be thrown out. Rutherglen had 4.5inches of rain in one and a half hours.

Unfortunately with no house insurance all re building costs have to be found. It was at this point I realised Gail and Tom could really do with some help from the community, family and friends.

All funds will be greatly appreciated.

Please help Gail and Tom repair their home.

As Mum said to me in tears " I just want my home to be home again".

Many homes have to be demolished from the ground up. Let's help repair this one. I hope my story reaches you all and after fundraising completion date 16th March 2022 I will post a final amount raised for a good cause.
