Gage Yount is a 23 year old Dad who had something happen to him that was totally unexpected that could have been fatal... Here is his story. On October 20th it was a normal day, he was enjoying one of his biggest hobbies, hunting. He started to have minor lower back pain. He went on throughout the following week at work and his daily activities. Fast forward to the following Friday, October 25th, he was unable to go to work because his "minor lower back pain" turned into severe lower back pain. He was told it could be a pinched nerve or pulled muscle. We had no idea. He was given medication that only dulled the pain when taken. Fast forward to the next week, the pain started to worsen to the point he could not stand, walk, or move to much. He had already been to Perryville Emergency Room and St Francis Emergency room where they did an x-ray & CT Scan that showed nothing but that his hips were out of line so they told him to keep taking medication and go to a chiropractor. Gage then started going to a chiropractor where she seen him 4 times for adjustments. The pain was only worse and now in his legs, each time he would walk, he couldn't. His legs would swell up and become hard as a rock. We were very confused. On November 6th his Chiropractor suggested going to Mercy Southeast Emergency Room to be seen. This is where he became very scared for his life and family. His amazing nurse practitioner, Ashley Gatner, checked his feet for a pulse because they were really swollen, she could not find a pulse in his left foot so she called in her well trusted Medical Doctor, Francesca Rios, they did a small ultrasound on him. They found a blood clot in the back of his right knee. Of course this was scary because what!? He was admitted shortly after. They did a bigger ultrasound on his whole lower half, where they found nothing but blood clots and we had no answers as to why & how this happened. A few days later, a few scans later, they found more blood clots in his lower abdomen along with a "mass". He was told it could be lymphoma cancer. Him and his family had no idea what was going to happen. On November 8th they did surgery to hopefully remove all blood clots. They were only able to remove the clots in his legs and put in 2 open-wall stents in his abdomen to help blood flow through his body. The next day, they did a biopsy to get a sample of this "mass". A few days later on November 11th his surgeon told him he would be taking another look through ultrasound to check on things. After the ultrasound, he was told that the mass in his abdomen was crushing the stents that were put in and on his pancreas so now it could be pancreas cancer but the clots in his legs were minimal and the surgery did well. The surgeon suggested being transferred to Barnes in St Louis due to not having the equipment to put in closed wall stents. All while waiting on the biopsy results to tell what this mass is. Still very scared for his family and his sweet baby girl, Baylen. He has been waiting for a bed to be available at Barnes for 2 days where they will basically redo everything they have done at Mercy Southeast to put in closed-wall stents. Gage and his fiancée, Alyssa, have been out of work for 3 weeks, in the hospital trying to get answers while baby Baylen has been staying with a well trusted family friend, anything that can be donated to help with medical expenses etc. is more than greatly appreciated,Thank you and God Bless
