A close friend and neighbor of mine is going through an incredibly difficult time and is in urgent need of financial assistance. I am doing everything I can to help, but this is bigger than what I can manage alone.

Note: For the family's privacy & safety, I am keeping this as anonymous as possible.

To give you context, my friend "Z" is a single mother of two young children. Having lost her parents at a young age, she has no immediate family and no close friends nearby in the PNW.

This last year has been beyond difficult for this family, as they have had to rebuild their life after a tremendous amount of trauma.

Recently, due to child illness, Z had no choice but to leave her fulltime job and find something more flexible so she could balance work with her caregiving responsibilities. She began working for a delivery service, which allowed her to earn income in short shifts between school drop-offs, care taking, doctor’s appointments, and other obligations.

Unfortunately, her car started having problems and it is now undrivable and she is unable to work.

WIth no income and no family to lean on, Z is in a critical place.

She has no money. She has no car.

And while the car repairs are expensive, they would still cost less than trying to find a cheap old car.

But without a car, she can’t work.

If she can’t work, she can’t pay rent.

If she can’t pay rent, she will be evicted.

If she is evicted, finding housing will be nearly impossible due to a damaged rental history.

This is the impossible position she’s in.

And yet, despite everything, she and her kids still greet the world with kindness, warmth, and smiles. They would give the shirt off their back to someone in need — now they’re the ones who need a break.

The world owes this amazing family a moment of relief.

And on a personal note: I love this family. We met by-way of stray kittens getting dumped in our cul-de-sac. We ended up co-parenting them and I was so grateful for all of their compassion and care.

Z is a forever friend.

She is low key, always comes from a kind place, gives zero sh*%s if your living room is a wreck. No judgement, just support. We like drinking kitchen coffee in our driveways, fawning over neighborhood kitties and discussing what we’d do if we won the lottery (which always involves helping other people and animals).
