Help Furnish Rockey's New Apartment

Tax deductible

After living in a tent for three years, Rockey is no longer homeless. Thanks to our friends at LA Family Housing, Rockey was placed into housing and now has her own apartment.

Housing subsidies cover the most important cost in ending homelessness, however, there is rarely any funding for basic necessities like a refrigerator, a bed, shower curtain, dishes, glasses, utensils, or all the stuff that makes an apartment a home.

When I was interviewing Rockey, I asked her if she wanted to start a GoFundMe. She said no. A mutual friend just text me that Rockey needs a refrigerator. I called Rockey and asked her what furnishings she had. Like many people, Rockey doesn't like to ask people for anything so I had to dig a little bit. Turns out, Rockey is sleeping on the floor.

I have been working with homeless people for a long time and I can tell you having a home over just being placed into a bare apartment makes a world of difference. Homelessness is hell, but being placed into housing starts a different set of challenges. After many years of living outside, having at least minimal furnishings like a bed and a way to keep food cold is very very important.

Please help Rockey get some basic needs for her apartment. Every penny donated will go to Rockey's new home. The most urgent needs are a bed and a refrigerator. Once we raise the money for those items, we'll start helping Rockey with other needs.

100% OF ALL DONATIONS WILL GO TO FURNISH ROCKEY'S NEW APARTMENT!

All donations are tax-deductible!
