<div>On Friday, March 7th, Bahía Blanca experienced <a href="https://buenosairesherald.com/society/multiple-evacuations-in-bahia-blanca-as-massive-storm-leads-to-flooding" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">an unprecedented flood</a> : <strong>over 400mm (15.7 inches) of rain fell in just a few hours</strong>, representing <strong>a third of the city’s annual average rainfall</strong>. The flood caused severe damage, exacerbating existing vulnerabilities in marginalized communities, including the LGBT+ community, which faces both <strong>social peripheralization</strong> and <strong>institutional neglect</strong>—issues that are <strong>directly impacting the response and recovery policies</strong>.

<div>Since 2017, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/furias.ong/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Furias</a> has been a <strong>tether</strong> for the LGBT+ community in Bahía Blanca—a space of survival and flourishing. The organization has provided <strong>resource-based and emotional help</strong>, offering support through HIV testing, clothing fairs, LGBT+ entrepreneurship markets, solidarity knitting workshops, CV preparation assistance, distribution of food and basic products to those in vulnerable situations, "Muestravesti" (a local trans-travesti archive preserving the community's history), and gender assemblies and collective training spaces.

<div>However, the magnitude of this flood has created an urgent need to expand efforts, to not only <strong>rebuild material resources</strong> but to also <strong>reconstruct the bonds of solidarity and belonging</strong> that are essential for collective healing and empowerment. Furias is not just a place—it is a <strong>site of resistance</strong>, where the ties of kinship and care are nourished and rebuilt.

<div>The flood has destroyed more than just material things; it has disrupted the very <strong>community fabric</strong> that has held the LGBT+ people of Bahía Blanca together for years. Furias faces the urgent task of securing not only the material recovery of what was lost but also <strong>the reconstruction of the solidarity that is necessary for the community to heal, move forward, and persist</strong>.
