Hi there, family and friends of Jeanne.
I'm her sister Chris -- and even if I don't know you -- I know that if you know Jeanne, you love her. She has that effect on people!
The last few months have been tough, though -- Jeanne felt a lump in her breast, had it checked out -- and received the news that it needs to be removed. Thankfully, the prognosis is excellent -- stage 1, highly treatable, no chemo necessary and her genetic testing came back clean. All good things given the circumstances.
All this said, there is an immediate need for surgery, to be followed by reconstruction. Between the two, there will be a significant financial burden placed on Jeanne. She does have privately purchased individual health insurance but with a high deductible. She's being told that her deductible will be met both this year and next.
When she first found out about all this, she said to me, shaking her head, "it'll be like having another student loan." But the last thing I want for her to be doing right now is worrying about money and accruing debt. She needs to channel all her strength and energy into her complete recovery. Which is why this page is here.
I know I'm biased, but Jeanne is quite simply the most kind-hearted person I know -- she always has been. She'd give anyone the shirt off her back. I am so blessed to have her as a sister. It sucks that this is happening, but her faith is strong, she has a lot of support and she's tough as nails. She's going to come out of this completely well.
Surgery is set for November 14, so no matter what you do to help here, in our family, we consider prayers the MOST valued currency. Thank you for them.
