5 months ago jamie hellens was a healthy young man aged 48yrs old. He had a massive personality and every room he walked in became alive. A great story teller, comedian funny man. Everyone who met jamie, loved him.
Jamie was a painter and decorator and loved his job! He went to work one day, and whilst working, jamie felt a numbness down his left side. He knew something wasn’t right, and immediately went for a scan at hospital. That is when the devastating news came that jamie had a brain tumour! He under went major brain surgery within 2 weeks to remove the tumour. They removed most of it, but said the tumour would eventually grow back in time. Jamie then went for radio therapy treatment! He lost his eyesight, and became very unwell, couldn’t eat, slept a lot and couldn’t do anything for himself due to the effects off surgery and treatment. He lost the full use off his left side, and became wheelchair bound. Lisa his loving wife of 21 years together, devoted every second of her time, taking care of jamie.
Jamie had downstairs living. His bed was in living room, lisa slept on sofa every night to be close to him.
Jamie did pick up for a couple of weeks. We all had some special time with him. However that didn’t last, and jamie rapidly went down hill. He was sleeping all the time, only waking up for drinks and a bit small talk.
We then received the devastating blow that we had days left with jamie.
Lisa his wife, four kids, family & friends were left devastated.
We all thought we had much more time! That wasn’t to be.
On December 24th Christmas Eve, 15:10pm the snow started to fall, and at home surrounded by his loving wife lisa, family and friend. Jamie hellens fell asleep, and gained his angel wings!
Jamie will always be on our minds! And forever in our hearts.
