Hello everyone!
My name is Adalyn Campbell and I am so excited to announce that I have been accepted into a program to travel to Boma Ngombe, Tanzania for an Ethnographic field school! To prepare for my travel, I will be learning Swahili and organizing a research project. My research in Tanzania will focus on humanitarian aid by religious organizations.

Tanzania is a very religious country, holding a majority of Muslim and Christian individuals. Ethnography is a branch of Anthropology that is specifically about studying people in their own environment by immersing oneself in their culture. It is a type of research unique to cultural anthropologists and the type of research I am pursuing! The significance of this project for me draws from understanding how aid is received by Tanzanians, and if recipients have an opinion on aid being religious. The anthropological approach surrounds the idea that those who receive the aid deserve to have a voice in what type of aid they are receiving. The effectiveness of humanitarian aid can differ vastly, and I want to try to understand what might help Tanzanians the most.

Unfortunately, travel to Tanzania is not cheap! I am currently applying for grants, scholarships, and working a full-time job while taking 18 credits to get to Tanzania, but any help is greatly appreciated. Any contribution makes a big difference! Thank you all for your generosity and for taking the time to read about my research. Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding my research!
