Help fund Ruby’s treatment

Donation protected

We and Ruby are hoping for your help. Our beautiful girl is only 8 months old and came to us only a short time ago. We rescued her from a shelter in Turkey where she had an uncertain future.

My husband and I both work in frontline positions, he is a Police Officer and I work in the NHS. We both had to work on Xmas Eve and therefore asked a family member to look after our gorgeous girl throughout the day.

Ruby was about to be taken out for a for a walk when a loud van sped past the gate. Sadly, this spooked Ruby and she knocked down the family member looking after her and ran away. Despite all efforts to catch her, Ruby fled in a panic and was ever so sadly hit by a car driving approximately 40 miles an hour.

Ruby was rushed to an emergency vets and had sustained terrible injuries.

We knew early on (Boxing Day) we were dealing with a nasty and complex elbow fracture that needed specialist input over a 2 hour drive away and costing £6000 (without complication) but they could not accept her till Tuesday.

Unfortunately, yesterday we have had another devastating blow and found out our current vets have missed a complex pelvis fracture too. Due to finding out these additional injuries,  today (28/12/20) I have driven her 200miles to Fitzpatrick Referrals where we are hoping they can fix our beautiful girl.

We have insurance but this will not cover her treatment and after care. At present we have a £7000 insurance pot which we are £2500 into already and we’ve not yet had any specialist input due to it being the Xmas period.

We know the cost of her hospital care to date and the elbow fracture would have exceed our insurance and now with the additional complex fracture in her pelvis we just don’t know how we will pay for her treatment and after care.  We do not even want to have to consider the worst option of losing our girl simply because we cannot afford the vet bills.

Just the smallest donation will help us to do the very best for our precious girl.

Despite only being with us a short time she has already become such a huge part of our family and a best friend to our 2 year old boy who keeps asking for her and doesn’t understand where she has gone.

Even though Ruby is in such discomfort, when I picked her up today to transfer her to the new vets surgery, this beautiful girl still wagged her tail when she saw me and she truly has the most beautiful soul.

Any money over raised for her her treatment costs will be donated to the rescue centre in Turkey ‘Bird Island Farm’.

Thank you.
