<div>My name is Debbie Phillips, and I am starting this fundraiser for my lifelong friend, Jimmy Shaw. We met in high school more than 45 years ago, and he has been a treasured part of my life ever since.

<div>Our dear friend Jimmy has been courageously battling pancreatic cancer for almost 3 years now. To many, he is not only a beloved husband to Frisco, but also a dear friend, a source of laughter and love, and a truly gifted actor. Jimmy’s talent has lit up the stage and screen, and his dream is to return to acting as soon as he recovers, sharing his incredible talent and spirit with the world once again.

<div>In the fall of 2023, Jimmy bravely underwent an attempted Whipple surgery in Barcelona. Unfortunately, during the procedure, the surgeon discovered that the tumor’s involvement with a major artery made the operation too complex to safely complete. This was heartbreaking news, but they didn't stop fighting, looking for new alternatives while Jimmy underwent grueling chemotherapy and radiation treatments, until we finally decided to look outside of Spain even though everything was more expensive and complicated. After months of searching, we initially contacted a surgeon in New York, who, after a laborious process, decided that he could not operate on Jimmy. Although this was devastating news, we finally found this extraordinary doctor in Lisbon, Portugal, one of the few specialists in the world with the skill and experience to perform this highly complex procedure.

Tras meses de búsqueda, inicialmente contactamos con un cirujano en Nueva York que tras un laborioso proceso decidió que no podía operar a Jimmy y aunque fue devastador, finalmente encontramos a este extraordinario médico en Lisboa, Portugal, que es uno de los pocos especialistas en el mundo con la habilidad y la experiencia necesarias para realizar este procedimiento tan complejo.
