Help fund Ken's cancer treatments

Donation protected
Ken Caulum has always lived to serve others. Those of you who have had the honor of meeting him, know how he makes a lasting impression on your heart. We ask that you please pray for him and his family through the hard days to come.

Ken was recently diagnosed with liver cancer. We are asking for your support to help ease the financial burden. His treatments will cost about $1,800 a week for the next year until a liver transplant is expected to become available. The estimated yearly cost for these treatments will be approximately around $80,000.

Here is a little background story for all of his friends, supporters, and loved ones who are just learning about his newly discovered cancer.

Back in the 70’s Ken was serving in the US Army and stationed in Germany. He underwent emergency surgery on his intestines but there was complications which led to a blood transfusion. Back then, blood wasn't screened as well as it is today and he contracted Hep C from one of the blood donors. It wasn't until years later that he found out this even happened and his doctors treated it with a drug called interferon. It was believed that the treatment worked and sent the Hep C into remission. Unfortunately, this treatment has led to tumors, cirrhosis, and cancer of the liver.

Ken continued serving the US Army, nearly his entire adult life. You could say it was in his blood :) From 2004-2008 he deployed with the Alaska National Guard and had over 400 combat missions before returning home to a new kind of battle.

His VA doctors have told him he is not able to do Chemotherapy or Radiation treatments since it would destroy his liver even more. Ken searched for someone that could help him and located a cancer center in Arizona but the VA will not pay for his care since it is considered “alternative medicine”.   Although they couldn't offer Ken an alternative, other than wait for a transplant and hope it doesn't spread in the next year or so, he couldn't sit idol and began his next mission to give all he has to fighting cancer.

This soldier has a lot of fight left and will not back down from this fight. Your donation will go towards his unexpected medical bills. No US Vet should ever be turned away form the care they deserve. Won’t you join us in praying for Ken and his family, who are now separated by thousands of miles. Together we can support this amazing man; a man who has sacrificed so much for his family, friends, and country.

God Bless and thank you for your prayers and donations. Every dollar is such a blessing to this family to be able to get the cancer treatments Ken needs.
