Hello, my name is Jesamie! I am a trans man. I have been out for 5 years as transgender, and I have been medically transitioning for a year. I have been wanting top surgery(the medical term is a double mastectomy) for about 4 years now, and the time has finally come! 

In March of 2021, I finally began my medical transition. Over the time of medically transitioning, I have felt more and more at home in my body. I struggled with depression for many years before I started transitioning, and it has truly been life-saving. I never thought that I could love myself as much as I am learning to through my transition, and it has improved my mental health in ways I couldn’t imagine. I would not have believed you a few years ago if you told me how happy I would be with myself today, and knowing that will only keep getting better keeps me smiling every single day. 

This surgery is incredibly important to me and my transition, and will improve the quality of my life in so many ways. Physically, I have been binding my chest for a while, and have back pain and acid reflux from binding. This surgery will free me from those pains, I will be able to wear anything without the fear of my chest or my binder being seen, I will be able to go swimming with my friends, work out at the gym without worrying, and I will be even more at home in my body. Socially, I will feel more comfortable in public around other people(especially when it comes to dating). I will have so much more confidence in myself and will have the power to give that positive energy back to the world. Emotionally, My whole life, I have always wanted to stand out— and now that I know who I am, I want to feel like I belong. For the first time in my life, I look at my face in the mirror and I love what I see. That is such an incredible and exciting feeling. I cannot wait to be able to feel that when seeing my chest! 

I have received an official top surgery date: June 30th! I am extremely excited! My surgery will be covered by my insurance, which still leaves me with a high deductible that is due two weeks before my surgery. I am very excited, and appreciate the support so so so much! Anything helps!
