Help Fund Eli's Recovery

All dogs are special but Eli has been described as magical. He loves everyone and every thing and is an ambassador of joy, love, and kindness. But he had a rough start. He was rescued less than 2 hours before being euthanized at the Austin, Texas animal control facility and almost died the first night with his foster from a respiratory infection.
But his foster fell in love with him and became a foster failure and Eli has lived the last six years as a healthy, exuberant guy.
On the morning of April 2nd, his mom found him lying in the grass near death. Just 12 hours earlier, he was his normal, perfectly fine healthy self. She rushed him to the emergency animal hospital where he was diagnosed with severe pancreatitis and aspiration pneumonia, both treatable and survivable medical conditions.
Because his condition was not terminal, and because he is such a wonderful boy, his mom could not say no to trying to make him better. She initially thought it would be a few days and a couple of thousand dollars. By Monday, April 9th, the cost will reach $6,000. And it will get bigger.
Eli is getting better but his recovery will take a long time and he will have to stay in the hospital on IV antibiotics and continual blood monitoring until he is stronger.
I know many people think it is insane to spend this kind of money on a dog. I've even thought that this is half a car, or 3 fabulous vacations. But how do you tell the doctors to euthanize him when he's getting better and this is a survivable random event? and most importantly, how do you do it when you, and so many other diverse people love him so much?
I've contributed to many funds like this for other people thinking I know how I would feel if it was mine and thanking God that it wasn't
Now I'm the one who needs help.
No amount is too small because it all adds up.
