Meet our friend Caleb.
A beautiful 20-year-old man with a Developmental Disability and Autism.
Caleb is cognitively two years old.
Caleb loves Toy Story, Paw Patrol, The Wiggles and horses.
Randy and Nadine Mitchell, Caleb’s parents, and our close friends, have worked tirelessly to give Caleb the best possible care.
Recently, Nadine has gone through some physical challenges that have made it difficult for her to care for him on a full-time daily basis as Randy also works full time.
Here’s where we need your help!
Recent changes in Ontario Government Funding have limited the availability of special funding (called Passport Funding) that helps adults with a developmental disability to participate in their communities. This funding also helps full-time caregivers (like Nadine) take a momentary break from their full-time caregiving responsibilities.
Passport funding includes access to music and animal therapy, swimming, crafts, and bowling and social activities which means that Caleb can do the fun things that he enjoys with people he loves to be with. With the Passport funding either limited or non-existent to families like the Mitchell’s, Caleb can no longer enjoy these activities.
In order to meet the needs that the Passport funding would have provided, we are asking for your help to raise $60,000.00 for Caleb for the next two years.
This $60,000 will include $100-a -day for Caleb’s Day Program AND respite for Randy and Nadine. This will ensure that Caleb can go to his Day Programs Monday to Friday and continue doing the things he loves.
If 60 people give $1000, our goal is met.
If 600 people give $100, our goal is met.
We are asking that you give what you can and to share this campaign with your community, family and friends.
It would be great to see Caleb start his Day Program at the beginning
of September 2019.
