Help Fund the Music at North Country Fair 50th Anniversary
Donation protected
The North Country Fair is celebrating its 50th year as a beloved community event on Sept 21 & 22, 2024. It is a fun-filled weekend with over 175 artists, food vendors, non-profits, kids’ crafts, community parades, and three stages with music.
All funds received through GoFundMe will be used to pay a greater stipend to our performers, and provide better stage setups.
The North Country Fair exists solely for the benefit of the community. We typically make just enough money to plan and coordinate the fair the following year. We operate on a modest budget, enough to keep this community tradition alive! We keep the fees as low as possible for participating vendors and organizations, and the event is always free for the community.
One ramification of maintaining a free event while keeping fees low is that our entertainers are considered “volunteer performers” and receive only a small stipend. However, we recognize that musicians are artists too and our goal is to pay them more equitably.
Our mission is to celebrate and advocate for a healthy environment, cooperation, and community; a vibrant alternative economy; and justice for every person and all forms of life. We honor this mission by supporting and prioritizing quality local artisans, collaborating with aligned non-profits, creating an inclusive event for all participants and attendees, showcasing the biodiversity of our region during the All Species Parade, and following zero waste practices to care for our environment. We are proud to be Humboldt County’s first community event to prioritize achieving zero waste and eliminate single use plastics from the Fair. It’s been encouraging to see most Arcata events following suit in recent years.
