Help fund a play park in Hector’s memory

Hector Ralph Howlett : Your life may have only spanned 15 short months but the memories we have made and the love we have shared will last a lifetime.

Lee, Arthur and Tara are devastated that their beautiful, sweet boy Hector has recently passed away after a courageous battle with Alpers Syndrome which is a rare, genetic, mitochondrial disease. Hector bravely fought on after his diagnosis and in doing so managed to extend his life by several more precious months than his original prognosis set out.

Tara, Lee and the rest of Hector’s family are hoping to create a legacy to last a lifetime. They would like to help and support other families who are experiencing living with such devastating news as well creating a living legacy for Hector. The money donated to this page will now be distributed between the following charities and trusts-

Great Ormond Street Hospital: One of the world's leading children's hospitals and who have done an outstanding job caring for Hector and his family.

The Lily Foundation: The UK's leading mitochondrial disease charity and the largest charitable funder of mitochondrial research in Europe. They also provide essential support to families by offering mini breaks and family weekends to meet with world specialists.

EACH (East Anglia‘s Children’s Hospice): EACH offer care and support for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and support their families. They were incredible in the final weeks of Hector’s life and continue to provide support for the family.

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital: The team at Jenny Lind children’s hospital have done an incredible job in supporting and caring for Hector and his family.

Anything that is left over will be put towards taking Arthur on a special trip to Lapland.

The money already raised has been used to complete the play park behind their house, and Hector was able to play on it with his brother before he died. The park will allow all of Hector’s and Arthur’s friends to play in the village and a place that Arthur will always be able to return to, to think, remember and be proud of his little brother's legacy.

In addition to the charities, some other things have been set up in Hector’s name:

Hector Ralph Howlett Cup: Hector’s Grandma Stephanie has sponsored the annual Under 9 Tennis Tournament Cup at Norwich Tennis Club.

RNLI- A ‘launch a memory’ has been set up in tribute to Hector. By his uncle Damien and Victoria. His name will appear on the new lifeboat at Wells so he will always be going on journeys and helping to save people.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated.
