Can you help fuel the Rebellion?
On 15 April a group from Extinction Rebellion in Southampton will travel to London to join the global week of rebellion.
Could you help financially support some members of our group as they rebel for life in London for 2 weeks? You'll also enable low income members of the community to attend that might not otherwise be able to afford travel or supplies for their participation
We are rebelling because the government’s criminal negligence in allowing the climate crisis to unfold. Time is running out to avoid climate chaos but if together we act now then there is still hope. The movement has three demands and is guided by these principles .
The International Rebellion is set to be the biggest act of sustained mass civil disobedience for decades in the UK.
Extinction Rebellion in Southampton are going to join other XR groups across the UK coming to occupy London for two weeks in order to push the government to negotiate our demands.
What are we asking for?
We are a passionate group of volunteers who believe it is our moral and social duty to do everything we can to act against the impacts of climate change in the face of crushing scientific knowledge.
Joining this movement has put our lives on hold as we stand up against loss of life! It's been a mad dash to get ready and we are yet to set up a local fundraising team. This has meant that some members have been paying for travel and materials out of our own pocket.
We are crowdfunding for some rebel essentials so that our group can travel to the Rebellion in London and stay there potentially for over 2 weeks. You'll also enable get low income members of the community who might not otherwise be able to come to get there.
What your will go towards:
*Basic essentials such as food and warm drinks (£10 pp per day)
*Travel to and from London (£15+£15 pp)
*Warm clothing to fight off the cold April evenings (£10)
*Phone credit so that rebels can keep in contact with their group and not worry about being lost or alone (£5 pp per day)
*Camping essentials such as gas so that rebels aren’t left out in the cold (£8 pp)
* Any legal fines incurred during the Rebellion (case specific)
We're also asking for donations of any materials/camping supplies that might be useful in London
Some of the things we need are:
* bicycle trailers,
* camping trolleys,
* wheelbarrows,
* water urns,
* tarp,
* rope,
* heavy duty stakes or weights,
* blankets,
* camping cooking sets (please no aluminium or anodized aluminium),

We're also going to need places to store valuables, charge phones and recover from stress. If you or any friends or family live near (or in easy access of) Central London and would be able to support us please also send an email to the address above.
It’s hard to ask the community for money to support our group, but we feel the Rebellion is so key that we need to be as prepared as possible so that we're safe and effective.
