Help Fuel Ce Patli's Puro Nixtamal Tortilleria in San Jose

We are husband and wife Angelica and Sergio. Our business Ce patli has grown from community street organizing as La Defensa Del Maiz de San Jose, producing at home as Home Cottage Purveyor, commercial kitchen rental, selling at Farmer's Markets to now acquiring our own brick and mortar Tortilleria in the East Side of San Jose as we have envisioned for decades.

We have made the commitment to stay steadfast in our mission to rescue the much-needed healthy Mexican Non GMO's Maiz Tortillas.

Our tortillas are made from Maiz of different colors and varieties sourced from small family farmers throughout Mexico that continue to grow their Maiz Criollo without any biochemical pesticides. We make our own Nixtamal cooked and soaked in Cal/Limestone and our Masa is stoneground with volcanic stones alchemized to enrich the flavor and nutrition. Our communities have stopped eating store bought tortillas due to synthetic additives creating an allergy and health crisis. Dozens of our supporters who were no longer eating corn and trusted us with our Maiz Tortillas. They are now our loyal customers with no allergic reactions.

You are also returning happiness, nostalgia, and health to the many persons who appreciate and were raised with this type of Tortillas.

We have been applying to rent our own brick and mortar Tortilleria for years been turned down due to low capacity of production or funds. We have now acquired commercial grade machinery to produce at a higher capability, but we needed a place where we could produce and sell directly to the community, which we were not able to do at the kitchen rental commissary. In late June, we found an ideal location in the East Side of San Jose on White Rd and Alum Rock, which was a previous Subway. The monthly rent was more affordable than other places. However, it still needed an exhaust hood and other improvements for our type of business. We took the chance to meet with the realtor to see the place. We submitted our application for the landlord to review and received that dreaded call that the landlord felt we did not have enough funds. We then received a call that the landlord and the agent wanted to come to the kitchen space we were renting to see us at work and meet with us. We provided them a demo of our Tortillas making process and sampled our freshly cooked Blue Maiz Tortillas and loved them.

We were then invited to fill out the term lease and told by the landlord that we should out-grow the new place in five years. After signing the finalized lease, the landlord told us "you know that I was not going to approve you guys, but the realtor told me you have to meet them.

We were given the chance we have been waiting for so now it is up to us. We will use the funds we currently have, keep selling at the Farmers markets, obtain more loans but we are in a crunch time and need help.

We are asking to raise $10,000 dollars to help us pay for the architect to draw up our floor design, the exhaust hood and installation. These two items are some of the major components that are needed to help us pass the city's requirements and start to operate. Some other construction renovations are needed and we will take it step by step.
