Hi guys, Freya here, but many of you know me as Ano.
As you know, 2020 has been hardl for everyone, no matter your circumstances, country or standing. However, it's been a hell for some others.
Here in the UK we've been decimated by this pandemic, but self employed people, like myself, have been left to the wolves. For such a small country we have already passed 1.3million Covid cases, with over 50,000 deaths. This has seen multiple lockdowns, of which we are currently in. This means all non essential trades are suspended, many of us confined to our homes unless our leave is essential.
This wouldn't be an issue for many, as a Furlough sceme is in place to cover 80% of your wages. This doesn't extend to those who are self employed. We are expected to still live, paying all our bills; rent, utilities, taxes, medical costs and food - while it is against the law for us to work and generate an income to cover it.
I have survived this year by using my rainy day savings, selling possessions that are dear to me, and more. But these savings are nearly depleted. My overheads to keep us afloat is north of £1500 a month, This wasn't including the recent flooding and damaged roof I am in the process of getting repaired, chipping in for funeral costs of someone dear lost to this virus & mounting medical costs for a thyroid issue which, while not cancerous (thankfully), is still being investigated and treated.
Many of you know I don't take handouts, I've been offered before for a variety of reasons, but always declined. I am now approaching a position where my pride is having to take a backseat. This current lockdown was scheduled to end on December 3rd, but media and experts are expecting it to stretch into New Year. Being someone with respiratory issues, I am medically classed as vulnerable to Covid-19, and in the "shielded" category of people - so until lockdown lifts I am at the mercy of a race against time.
This money will be used to keep us afloat through to New Year. Anyone who would like their donation back once I am back on my feet need but ask, and I will happily do so.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and even considering the possibility of donating. A share, or anything, helps more than you could know.
All my love,
