Help Freddie & Benjamin Recover from Fire

What Happened
Freddie Montgomery and Benjamin Ruiz Rosado’s home has just been destroyed.

Due to the negligence of a downstairs neighbor, this young, newly-engaged couple are now left to sort out logistics, recover possessions, and make another home from what remains after a huge fire.


Costs
We’re asking for money to:

1. Help with immediate logistical costs (storage unit for salvaged items, moving truck cost, etc)

2. Help transition into a new home (deposit + rent. it’s a challenging time to be looking for new housing in Boston)

3. Recover what’s lost (furniture, belongings)

How You Can Help
We’re hoping to raise this money quickly, as it may take time for them to navigate the various bureaucracies to receive any restitution payment.

Their home has been space for so many community-building moments and gatherings. We hope they can lean on community support at this time.

Background
If you know me (Darien), you may know that these two have been my best friends in Boston, my ride-or-dies, and my chosen family. Freddie, who works in education, and Benjamin, a social worker, have the biggest hearts and unending capacity for kindness and love.

They’ve shown me and our community a lot of love and I’m hoping this GoFundMe campaign can help them sort through the mess of the fire and settle into a new home more easily.
