Fred, the sweet orange cat who has been visiting our backyard for over a year, has finally been caught and needs some help to get well and find a home!
Fred started as our cat Boyo's nemesis (only in Boyo's mind) but won our hearts when we found him snuggled up and scared in a camp chair under our awning during a rainstorm.
We started leaving food out for Fred, and he became more comfortable with us, visiting and meowing at our back door (much to Boyo's chagrin). On 2/7, right before the snowstorm, Fred showed up with a noticeable limp and was crying for help, and we knew it was time to make moves.
Cyndi was able to get in touch with Vicki, the Carroll Gardens Cat Lady, who kindly let us borrow a trap, and after a week of tempting with food and Churu, we finally caught him on Valentine's Day!
Fred needs to get fixed, checked out by a vet, and will need medical care for his injured right paw. We're hoping to raise enough money to completely cover the care he needs to be healthy, happy, and find a wonderful home. Anything at all helps!
Anything we raise beyond our goal will be donated directly to Vicki, who does incredible work to help cats like Fred find homes and get the care they need.
