Help Foxfire Theatre go to Finland!

Foxfire Theatre have been accepted for the exciting Lahti Fringe Festival September 2019, for a run of performances of our original piece, Nomads.
Nomads is the story of two folktale characters from Finnish and Scottish mythology. The story follows Akka from her homeland of earth/soil to a new foreign world, where she meets Beira, a Gaelic goddess of water and rock. These two young women inhabit entirely different environments, however they find a way to communicate and co-exist through movement and sounds, sharing their stories and cultures. We follow the development of their unlikely friendship, the inevitability of disaster and their fear of separation.
Nomads is a devised physical theatre performance discussing what it means to exist somewhere other than your home, friendship and the significance of international relationships in 'Brexit Britain.' The piece explores the themes of Otherness, love and unbreakable bonds, something we find important in this time of instability and uncertainty.
As a company consisting of Finnish and Scottish friends, this story is incredibly important to us. We devised the show the year following the vote as part of a University project. Since graduating have had a successful reworking of Nomads at Edinburgh Syn Fest 2018. We believe that taking the performance further afield will help us spread the message of unity and Scotland's bond with Nordic culture and the European Union.
Unfortunately as a non profit group the expenses of flights, set, costumes etc will be too much for us to do alone. Although we each have jobs outside of Foxfire, these only cover our personal living costs, so we need a little bit of help. Although we are applying for as many bursaries and grants as we can, these are uncertain. So for that reason we would be so grateful if you could lend us a hand, anything you can donate is highly appreciated.
