Help Me Take Foster Kids to South Africa

I am Raquel Perez and as some of you know, I have been working towards attaining my MSW, while working with a nonprofit that services foster youth in the greater Los Angeles area by ensuring they successfully transition from high school to college. I am deeply committed to the academic, social, and emotional well-being of these high school students. Recently, an amazing opportunity has come up for our students that would allow them to participate in a service trip to South Africa in July of 2020. This service trip to South Africa is in collaboration with SEWI (Social Emotional Wellness Initiative) and Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa. This would be an educational experience of a lifetime with many learning outcomes, including discussing key themes in South Africa’s history, demonstrating increased intercultural competence, and increasing cross-cultural connectivity. While we have acquired enough funding for two students to attend, they would not be able to go without a staff chaperone. Through your support, I will be able to lead this trip and these students will be able to experience this life changing opportunity.
