Hi, my name is Madalena. Recently, Cecil and I adopted a gorgeous 5 month old puppy, from a woman, who lives in our home town, and who’s currently facing eviction.

The former owner is a single mother of two young children and already has one dog, so with the eviction, she had no choice but to give this young puppy up for adoption.

When I met her, I saw the reality of her home and current situation. She’s doing everything she can, but earning minimum wage in Cascais (one of the wealthiest towns in Portugal) doesn’t go far. Especially when you're raising two children alone, making a one or two-bedroom apartment out of reach, particularly for single mothers.

Right now, she’ll be staying with her parents until she can find a new place. But deposits, rents, and just keeping things afloat make that extremely difficult.

I couldn’t just walk away, so I’ve set up a GoFundMe to try and help her get back on her feet. I know there are endless requests like this online, and I completely understand if now’s not the time for you. But if you do feel you can help, even a few euros could go a long way.

I’ll be closing the fundraiser on August 3rd and will personally hand her the full amount collected.
