Hello my name is Eliana Barousse and I would like to share with you the story of my sister Lilia's friend Zhara. My goal is to help her raise funds to be able to afford Cancer treatment which she was diagnosed with in 2017. Please see below this letter from Zhara herself and know that every cent raised I will withdraw from GoFundMe and imidiately wire transfer to her account in Panama to use in her treatment.
Hello my name is Zhara Tawil, I am 24 years old and I was born in Puerto Ordáz, Venezuela. I studied 3 years of Medicine at the UDO Bolivar which was a great experience both personally and academically. Also during this time I have been a member of the non profit volunteer group called Doctor Yaso. Doctor Yaso is an organization based on the work from Dr. Patch Adams, we are normal people that dress up as clowns to visit terminal patients at hospitals. Providing joy to those who need it the most is very gratifying and I have found that this work is something that I am very passionate about and it has become a true part of me.
If you are not very familiar with Venezuela, it is a third world country in south America who is suffering the greatest economical distress in history. There is not enough food or medicine as our country has fallen in hands of a few men whose need for power have trumped taking care of our people and has destroyed my beautiful country. Inflation is higher than 800% and now has 4 of the top ten most dangerous cities in the world making Caracas #1.
Because of the degrading economical situation and the high violence and crimes I decided to leave my country and migrate to Panama with my family. In Panama, I was fortunate enough to start over and now even have continued my studies in medicine.
A few months ago I felt a bulge over my clavicle, intuitively I thought something was wrong, the diagnosis was Hodgkin Lymphoma Stage II.
This was a very hard moment for me, everything stood still for a moment and then I thought to myself “this is your new goal, you can beat this Zhara, always remain positive”. The dream to graduate and be a surgeon has not been forgotten, I still have so many dreams to accomplish.
This has been a time full of changes, I remain grateful and appreciative for every moment I am given on this earth. During the social work with Doctor Yaso, I visited many cancer patients with and I never thought that one day I would be the patient.
I have always sourounded myself with these good energies to endure whatever the road brings and now in this new challenge, I need your help for my healing. Anything from a prayer, good vibes or any small amout that you can provide helps, I will take it all!
The medicines for my chemotherapy and constant doctor visits are very costly and I had to go back to Venezuela for my treatment. It is practically impossible to get my medication by my own means it is really sad not only because my situation has affected our lives as a family, but because a beautiful country like this one is is going through the worst situation in history and everyone is struggling to survive, for food, for health, for security, and even for joy.

También durante este tiempo he sido miembro del grupo de voluntarios sin fines de lucro llamado Doctor Yaso, la cual es una organización basada en el trabajo del Dr. Patch Adams, somos personas normales que nos vestimos de payasos para visitar a pacientes terminales en hospitales. Proporcionar alegría a quienes más lo necesitan es muy gratificante y he descubierto que este trabajo es algo que me apasiona y se ha convertido en una parte de mí.
Si no estan muy familiarizado con Venezuela, es un país del tercer mundo en América del Sur que está sufriendo la mayor angustia económica de la historia. No hay suficientes alimentos o medicinas ya que caimos en manos de unos gobernantes cuya necesidad de poder ha destruido mi hermoso país. La inflación es superior al 800% y ahora tiene 4 de las 10 ciudades más peligrosas del mundo, lo que convierte a Caracas en el número 1. Debido a la degradante situación económica y la alta violencia y los crímenes, decidí dejar mi país y migrar a Panamá con mi familia. En Panamá, tuve la suerte de comenzar de nuevo y ahora incluso he continuado mis estudios de medicina.
Hace unos meses sentí un bulto encima de mi clavícula, intuitivamente pensé que algo andaba mal, el diagnóstico fue Hodgkin Lymphoma Stage II.
Este fue un momento muy difícil para mí, todo se detuvo por un momento y luego pensé: "este es tu nuevo objetivo, puedes vencer esto Zhara, siempre mantente positiva". El sueño de graduarme y ser cirujano no ha sido olvidado, todavía tengo muchos sueños por lograr.
Este ha sido un tiempo lleno de cambios, de agradecimiento y valor por cada instante que me da la vida. Durante el trabajo social con el Doctor Yaso, visité a muchos pacientes con cáncer y nunca pensé que algún día sería el paciente.
Siempre me he rodeado de estas buenas energías para soportar lo que sea que traiga el camino y ahora en este nuevo desafío, necesito tu ayuda para mi curación. Cualquier cosa, desde una oración o cualquier otra cosa pequeña que puedas ayudar, ¡lo agradeceré completamente! Los medicamentos para mi quimioterapia y las constantes visitas al médico son muy costosos y tuve que regresar a Venezuela para recibir mi tratamiento.
Es prácticamente imposible obtener la medicación por mis propios medios, es realmente triste no solo porque todos aquí luchamos para sobrevivir, para comer, para estar seguros e incluso para ser feliz dentro tanta adversidad.
