Support for victims of Hurricans in Nicaragua

Am 6. November haben wir diese Spendenaktion gestartet, um Marling und Bertilda zu unterstützen, ihre Häuser in Bilwi zu reparieren, deren Dächer Anfang November durch den Hurricane Eta beschädigt wurden. Leider hat sich die Situation nun drastisch verändert, nachdem am 16. November erneut ein Hurricane - Hurricane Iota - die Ostküste Nicaraguas getroffen hat. Die Häuser von Marling und Bertilda wurden dabei noch stärker beschädigt, aber ihre größte Sorge ist nun Karata, die indigene Gemeinde, aus der sie ursprünglich kommen.
Nach den zwei letzten Hurricanes haben fast alle Familien in Karata ihre Häuser und ihren Lebensunterhalt verloren. Priorität Nummer 1 ist daher gerade die Sicherstellung des Zugangs zu Nahrungsmittel und sauberen Wasser in Karata. Marling, Bertilda und ihre Familien möchten die Gemeinde unterstützen, indem sie sie mit Nahrungsmitteln und Wasser versorgen. Daher haben wir uns entschieden, diese Spendenaktion fortzusetzen, um den Menschen in Karata zu helfen.
Marling und Bertilda gehören zu den wenigen ethnischen Gruppen, die die englische Kolonisation in Nicaragua überlebt haben. Mutter und Tochter sind zwei starke Frauen, die darum kämpfen, ihre Familie und ihre Gemeinde durch diese schwere Zeit zu bringen.

On November 6th we started this fundraiser to support Marling and Bertilda to repair their houses in Bilwi after Hurricane Eta damaged the roofs of their homes. Nevertheless, after Hurricane Iota hit last November 16th the east coast of Nicaragua the situation has drastically changed. The homes from Marling and Bertilda have suffered more damages but their current biggest concern is Karata, the indigenous community they are originally from.
After the last 2 Hurricanes, almost all families living in Karata have lost their homes and livelihoods. The number one priority at this moment is to ensure food and access to clean water. Marling, Bertilda, and their families want to support this community by bringing food and water. For this reason, we have decided to continue raising funds to help the community in Karata.
Marling Warman and Bertilda Cornejo Warman belong to one of the few ethnic groups that survived the English colonization. Mother and daughter are two resilient and very strong women who are trying to get their family and community through.

El 6 de noviembre comenzamos esta recaudación de fondos para apoyar a Marling y Bertilda a reparar sus casas en Bilwi después de que el huracán Eta dañara los techos de sus casas. Sin embargo, después de que el huracán Iota golpeara el pasado 16 de noviembre la costa este de Nicaragua la situación ha cambiado drásticamente. Las casas de Marling y Bertilda han sufrido más daños pero su mayor preocupación actual es Karata, la comunidad indígena de la que son originarias.
Después de los dos últimos huracanes, casi todas las familias que viven en Karata han perdido sus casas y sus medios de vida. La prioridad número uno en este momento es asegurar la comida y el acceso a agua limpia. Marling, Bertilda, y sus familias quieren apoyar a esta comunidad trayendo comida y agua. Por esta razón, hemos decidido continuar recaudando fondos para también ayudar a la comunidad de Karata.
Marling Warman y Bertilda Cornejo Warman pertenecen a uno de los pocos grupos étnicos que sobrevivieron a la colonización inglesa. Madre e hija son dos mujeres fuertes y resistentes que están tratando de sacar adelante a su familia y a su comunidad.
