Help for Vashon and the Carter `Ohana

Hi my name is Diamond Carter, and I am Vashons oldest daughter. Anyone who knows my family or has grown up knowing my father can all agree that my dad is a humble, loving, giving, and caring man. Whenever anyone needs him, whether it be family, friends, or even strangers, he is always there to help in any way he can. He is the one who taught me to give from the heart, without any intention of receiving anything in return. People often complimented him on his beautiful eyes and his wonderful big smile. For the last few years, he has worked tirelessly at two jobs to help provide for his family, which is why my father's sudden health changes have left my family shaken and unprepared.

On the day of my sister's graduation, May 28th, 2022, my father suffered a stroke caused by a blood clot found on the left side of his brain, and was admitted to the ICU at the Moanalua Kaiser Hospital. The same night he underwent surgery to remove the clot but the doctors were unfortunately unsuccessful, and as a result he was suffering from brain swelling. Almost a week later, and after ALOT of prayer, my father is out of the ICU but is staying in the hospital to be taken care of and monitored around the clock. Due to the severity of the clot he is currently paralyzed on the right side of his body and is being fed through a feeding tube, but he is strong and he is stable. He has lost the ability to communicate using words but through little gestures (thumbs up, hand squeezes, and occasional smiles) we know that my father is still with us, and fighting everyday.

I have decided to make this GoFundMe account in order to help my mom and family with the financial burden of medical bills. Although my father has some health insurance, majority of his bills; ICU stay, Brain surgery, and future physical therapy expenses, will all fall on the shoulders of my mother and my family. So we are humbly asking if you could help us by donating or even just sharing our link and story. We also ask that you continue to pray for our `Ohana during these troubling times.
