Hi everyone! I just wanted to say, 2020 has been one hell of a year! It’s hard enough living in unprecedented times right now but I find it harder trying to find the right words to say this.
The past month or so, Pup, has been complaining of stomach pain, nausea, abnormal bowel patterns and rapid weight loss. Right before Thanksgiving he went to the ER and after a few tests they told him he had Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease better known as GERD. He was prescribed medications which worked temporarily until 3 weeks ago today, when the abdominal pain became unbearable. Pup went to the ER once again for further testing and they discovered a blockage in his stomach. A colonoscopy was done and on Dec. 2, 2020 our world turned upside down - I received a message from MY BEST FRIEND and it said “it’s colon cancer.” My husband, Jeremy and I lost it. Our tears couldn’t stop flowing down our faces. We felt so helpless. It is so unfair that all inpatients are restricted to have visitors right now due to the surge of covid cases. To imagine being diagnosed with STAGE 3 COLON CANCER - ALONE, to under go surgery ALONE, to come out of surgery and recover ALONE - it absolutely breaks my heart. Now that the tumor has been removed, and the pathology results are back, the next plan of care and road to recovery is CHEMOTHERAPY.
Pup has been in good spirits, he is staying positive and through GOD’s good grace we know he will get through this. Today, marks Pup’s 3rd week of hospital stay and we miss him so much and we can’t wait to hug and see him soon!
To know Pup is truly a blessing. He is a natural born leader and the most selfless person I know. He is always giving, always smiling, always helpful and his positive energy radiates no matter where he’s at. He is the BEST dad to his daughter, Kendall Sakura, a best friend to many of us, and the sole provider for his wonderful mom and brother. Due to his diagnosis, he is unfortunately unable to work & their source of income has since been halted. I would like to gently encourage family and friends to pray for Sakura and if possible, donate to help with his mounting medical expenses that he has, and will continue to accumulate during his treatment.
“Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed;
save me, and I shall be saved,
for you are my praise.” Jeremiah 17:14
I will try my absolute best to keep you all updated with his progress.
