Help for Rescue Dog with Broken Leg

Donation protected
Sheba, a female Shar Pei mix was left abandoned at a Louisiana vet’s office. Her owners just dumped her there because her leg was broken. They never even called back. The clinic wrapped the badly broken leg and the local animal shelter was called to pick her up.

The shelter did their best to care for her but did not have the resources to deal with such an extreme injury. Unfortunately, further delay would cause infection to set in and kill her.

A plea went out to all rescues in the area. In addition to the broken leg that was not healing properly, Sheba suffered from entropic eyes and could barely open her eyes to see.

The constant scraping of her inverted eyelashes on her cornea became so painful she simply rarely opened her eyes.

Shar Pei Nation Rescue Teamsters partnered with the shelter and together hope was had. She was rushed to the Vet immediately. The assessment to save the leg was grim. The best decision for her to live was amputation. She would lose the leg, but that recovery is swift. Dogs are resilient. There was no time to delay. She was immediately scheduled for amputation and to have entropian surgery on both eyes. When she woke up, she would be able to see without pain! That gave Shar Pei Nation hope for Sheba’s future.

Please help Shar Pei Nation Rescue Teamsters continue to pay for Sheba’s medical care and the other dogs who are currently under their care.
