Our friends, Mark and Shawna Colling are trying to navigate through the most difficult thing imaginable right now, as many of us know. For anybody not updated, this is the short story:
On October 11th, Shawna had to deliver her twin baby girls, Lillian and Abigail, 4 months prematurely. This devastating event put their babies at the absolute edge of viability—23 weeks. This brings a whole mess of problems and medical issues that were unimaginable. Some specialists attribute this possibly to Hurricane Irma, and the rapid drops in barometric pressures.
But both little girls fought on, although on some pretty significant life support and neonatal intensive care.
Two weeks later on October 23rd, Lillian showed it wasn’t her time, and she passed away.
As of today, Abigail is still stable off and on, but with frequent events of ups and downs and scares. Mark and Shawna are at risk of losing her, too. Abigail is very sick. She has severe bi-lateral brain hemorrhaging, a heart issue, and chronic lung disease. Her chances of survival is low at this point. It’s been a tough road, and will be a tough road ahead, to say the least.
As if it couldn’t sound worse, now Mark and Shawna have to make ‘burial arrangements’ for Lillian.
All of this has put a financial strain on Mark and Shawna, especially since Mark has been out of work during all of this.
They have expressed sincere thankfulness for the support and prayers that they’ve been given. And we should continue to offer our love, prayers, and support.
