Want to join me in making a difference? DARS is raising money to benefit Niki Goulden our very special CDCD housing worker who has made such a difference in the lives of many of our Durham friends who have experienced homelessness.

After a sudden onset of severe neck pain and the loss of feeling in her legs, Niki was rushed to her local hospital and then directly sent via ambulance to Sunnybrook Hospital for emergency spinal surgery. Her doctors needed to operate as quickly as possible to mitigate any further damage. At the time Niki had lost all feeling below the waist and was in excruciating pain. Niki had her surgery and there were a few bumps in the road but with her usual perseverance she has finally made it back to her local hospital. She is now much closer to her family and will begin the long road to recovery. Currently Niki is working on regaining feeling and the use of her left leg and hand. With unpaid time off for both Niki and her husband as well as parking, fuel and the many expenses associated with a family member in hospital we are hoping to lighten the load a little.
