This is a fundraiser for Mrs. Merna Llorens. Born in 1939, in Mississippi, she’s one of six children, raised on cotton plantation. Merna met her husband Ray in Chicago during the summer of 1959, and they said their vows one year later on October 1, 1960. They have two children, Regina and Ramon, and their respective spouses. Merna also has 5 grandchildren-- 3 girls and 2 boys.
She was a 3rd grade teacher for 40 years total. 15 teaching at Saint Basil Catholic, and 25 years at South Haven Public Schools. She retired from teaching in 2005. She was a member of the Lion Club, Black History Leadership Society, and Woman's University Club.
Recently, Merna has been experiencing some health problems. She just underwent surgery, and will now require 24 hour care, which is not covered by insurance. We are setting up this GoFundMe to help with the immediate financial struggles that lie ahead.
The donations will be used to pay for:
24 hour care
Personal care items
Gas for any back-and-forth to hospitals
Any other unforeseen illness-related expenses
We surely appreciate anything you can give. ANYTHING helps! If you can't afford to donate, please just share this fundraiser with your friends and family.
Thank you so much in advance,
the Llorens family.
