Help for Miriam

Asking for support is very hard to do so I will make this short and to the point. 

My mom has been struggling with the effects of Alzheimer's Disease for 12 years.  If you know us you know I've been with her every inch of the way.  While the disease is often referred to as "The Long Goodbye" and described (for most patients) as a plane making a slow, gradual descent she is now deteriorating much more rapidly.

She knows very little these days, and is confused and disoriented as to where she is and what she's "supposed to be doing." When alone she can get into a state of great distress. The antidote to this is stimulation and companionship.

In an ideal world she would be living in a Memory Care facility which would specifically provide Alzheimer's Care, but like most Americans our circumstances do not allow for that type of treatment.

I have been with her every night that I am not working for the past five years, but she now needs companionship and support during the day too.

In the past, I've helped raise money for the local Alzheimer's Support Center but this year I feel like I need to the raise money instead for my mom's care, safety, and well being.

Any donation you make will go directly to hiring someone to visit with my mom and do things like help feed her, take her outside, and watch TV with her (which she can now not do on her own.) 

She lost her dog Chloe just recently - her long-time companion and essentially her third child . . . and her ability to always know that it's me.
