Meredith is an incredible educator, friend, daughter and mom; I've had the pleasure of knowing for almost 30 years. She's touched lives around the globe: students in Korea, orphans in Nepal, young people in the Greater Philadelphia region, and dedicated her life to helping ensure others have the opportunity to experience all the world has to offer. Both she and her husband Matt are educators, and both have employed their talents around the world to ensure a better future. In early 2016, Meredith became a first-time mom to a beautiful daughter whom she absolutely adores. At nearly one and a half years old, Mere's little girl already shares the same zest for life as her mom.
Unfortunately, Meredith was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer — Choriocarcinoma — in June 2017. The fast-growing cancer occurs in a women's uterus and has a high cure rate , but requires intensive treatment and intervention. From June until the holiday season 2017, Meredith will dedicate her time, health and all her strength toward fighting the disease, which will require weekly chemotherapy that incurs costly medical bills and significant support effort from her loving husband. Matt will remain diligently by Meredith's side while continuing to care for their young daughter. I know it has already been extremely difficult for Meredith to be away from her daughter during her chemo treatment.
Everyone that has met Meredith is familiar with her bubbly, vibrant personality, optimism, and joy. I’ve created this page so that her friends and family might reflect those traits back on Meredith and her family during their time of need. Mere and Matt are both amazing, generous people - and incredibly supportive of others - so let's support them through this journey to recovery. Any amount of support would go a long way. Any funds raised here will go to support medical bills, copays and living expenses during Meredith’s fight to recovery. We all know Mere is incredibly strong and will come through, but I hope this page might ease some of the burden along the way - it will be difficult enough as is.
