Help for Mama Berg

My mom began the hardest battle with cancer I have ever witnessed about 5 years ago.  Despite a dark diagnosis, unheard of side effects to chemo and other medications, and less than favorable odds, she stayed optimistic ad never gave up.  She received a bone marrow transplant after 3 years of treatment and has beaten the odds and has been in remission.  However, since then her health has actually continued to decline to the point that she can not currently live on her own.  We refuse to take her away from her home, dogs, and life to put her into a nursing home (she just celebrated her 62nd birthday, she is too young and still has a great life to live when she is better).  Although she is tough, nobody can handle the list of health issues she is battling and unbearable pain I watch her endure 24 hours a day.  To give you an idea of what I mean, a small list of her new health issues since remission are as follows:  Chronic graft versus host disease, severe chronic pain, multiple eye surgeries to restore her sight, tear duct plugs, chronic respiratory issues, diabetes, osteo arthritis, bone deterioration and softening, severe GI issues requiring immediate hospitalization, neuropathy, broken bones, immune system deficiency, and the list continues...)

However, in the last two months her health has taken a dramatic nose dive.  She went from being able to walk slowly, to with a cane, to with a walker, to needing assitance in all aspects of daily life.  It has become, unfortunately, clear that I alone am not enough to keep her safe.  She has fallen multiple times, unable to get up and badly injured, is often unable to even carry her own food and beverage, needs help into bed, and has needed to be rushed to the hospital via ambulance multiple times in the middle of the night due to sickness.  Miraculously, I've been here to help each time... but I am terrified of what would happen if I'm not.  I am afraid to go to the store, to the gym, and I am barely able to work a part-time night position to help with bills and support myself.

Due to all of this, we have applied for some home health care.  However, the process is very lengthy and costly, and we do not have the time nor the funds to be able to do this in the time and way it is necessary.  She currently is in the hospital for a couple days after her episode last night, and it saddens me to no end to feel relief that she actually has the support she needs, but only for a moment, only because she had another medical emergency.  I need to be able to help her immediately and have run out of options, so I have turned to GoFundMe as a last resort to afford the care she needs.

NOBODY desreves to go through what she is being asked to deal with on her own, especially her.  She spent her life helping those in need until she was no longer able and she deserves a break and to be comfortable in her home.

Donations will go to the following for her:

-Covering out of pocket home health care costs

-Prescription costs

-Hospital Bills

-A wheelchair

-Items to make the home more accessible to her

-Other unforseen medical costs and bills

-Maybe some flowers to brighten her days
