Help for Heidi and Axel (Ft. Myers Beach – “Ian” Hurricane victim September 2022)

In the year 2012 Heidi and Axel left Germany for the USA to fulfill their lives dream – “Heidi’s Island Bistro”.
With both of their not-stop commitment, Heidi as hostess and service and Axel as a trained german chef, they have not only managed to establish their restaurant on the beautiful island of Fort Myers Beach but also brought it to the top on Tripadvisor in 2021 as the "best restaurant in sw florida" of over 4500 rated restaurants through consistent high quality (consistently at least 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor for the last 7 years, currently 5.0!).
They reinvested the profits of recent years in their restaurant and grew steadily until they were finally at the destination of their dreams. A restaurant in Fort Myers Beach, a trendy meeting place for Germans and locals, as well as many tourists.
In addition to "TripAdvisor", they are also listed and rated on Google, Yelp and Facebook, and they are also considered an "insider tip" in various Florida guides.
This year they celebrate their 10-year anniversary, which is not self-evident for a German restaurant.
In the last 10 years, they have deliberately renounced holidays and leisure time. The success of their emigration was too important to them.
Axel recently had to undergo hip surgery. For the first time, their restaurant was closed for a few weeks. After an almost complete recovery, the two looked ahead to the Main season which is set to start in October 2022.
But there came "IAN", a hurricane that dwarfs all previous storms in a strength and destruction.
Heidi`s Island Bistro no longer exists. The building is destroyed, completely gone and razed to the ground... Nothing is there anymore. Not a fork.
Heidi`s and Axel`s existence is destroyed. They have survived the natural disaster but are facing ruin, they are looking at NOTHING! Whether they are entitled to state aid is not certain, since they do not have a citizenship.
We would like to help this very loving and always helpful couple financially. Our donation target is $200,000 until 01.02.2023, but ultimately every penny counts.

Liebe Gäste, Freunde und Bekannte, und alle Menschen auf dieser Welt
Heidi und Axel Wimmer wanderten im Jahr 2012 von Deutschland in die USA nach Florida aus um Ihren Lebenstraum – „ Heidi’s Island Bistro“ – zu verwirklichen. Mit pausenlosem Einsatz haben es Heidi im Service und Axel als gelernter Koch geschafft, ihr Restaurant auf der schoenen Insel Fort Myers Beach nicht nur zu etablieren sondern durch gleichbleibend hohe qualitaet (durchgehend mindestens 4.5 Sterne auf Tripadvisor fuer die letzten 7 Jahre, momentan 5.0!) 2021 als „bestes Restaurant in SW Florida“ von ueber 4500 bewerteten Restaurants auf Tripadvisor zu bringen.
Sie re-investierten die Gewinne der letzten Jahre in ihre Gastronomie und wuchsen stetig, bis sie letztendlich am Ziel ihrer Träume waren. Ein Restaurant in Fort Myers Beach, ein angesagter Treffpunkt für Deutsche und Einheimische, sowie sehr viele Touristen. Neben „TripAdvisor“ werden sie auch auf Google, Yelp und Facebook geführt und bewertet, und auch in diversen Florida-Führern gelten sie als „Geheimtipp“.
Dieses Jahr Feiern sie ihr 10 jaehriges Jubilaeum was fuer ein deutsches Lokal nicht
selbstverstaendlich ist.
In den letzten 10 Jahren verzichteten sie bewusst auf Urlaub und Freizeit. Ihnen war der Erfolg ihrer Auswanderung zu wichtig.
Axel musste sich vor kurzem einer Hüft-OP unterziehen. Zum ersten Mal hatte ihr Restaurant für ein paar Wochen geschlossen. Nach nun fast vollständiger Genesung schauten die Beiden nach vorne, denn die Hauptsaison würde im Oktober 2022 beginnen.
Doch nun kam „IAN“, ein Hurrikan, der in einer Stärke und Zerstörung alle bisher dagewesenen Stürme in den Schatten stellt.
Heidi`s Island Bistro gibt es nicht mehr. Das Gebäude ist zerstört, komplett weg und dem Erdboden gleichgemacht… Nichts ist mehr da. Nicht eine Gabel.
Heidi`s und Axel`s Existenz ist zerstört. Sie haben die Naturkatastrophe zwar überlebt aber stehen vor dem Ruin, vor dem NICHTS! Ob ihnen staatliche Hilfen zustehen ist nicht sicher, da sie keine Staatsbuergerschaft besitzen.
Wir möchten diesem sehr lieben und immer hilfsbereiten Ehepaar finanziell helfen. Unser Spendenziel sind 200,000,- $ bis 01.02.2023 - Letztendlich aber zählt jeder Cent.
