Families in my hometown of Isabela Puerto Rico have lost everything and are not able to work. They do not have fresh water, power, food or transportation. We are desperate as we can not communicate with each other. They are desperate for aid and are trying to survive. 100% of the donations will go to relief efforts as well as to help restore what has been destroyed by the hurricane.
I am the son of parents originating from Arroyo and Isabela, Puerto Rico. Growing up I spent all of my summers in Puerto Rico and it is very much my home. As I grew older and had my own family and children I continued the tradition of bringing them to Puerto Rico to strengthen their room and raise them to be proud Puerto Ricans. My parents raised our family in Washington Heights, NYC. They worked several jobs to make sure that their 6 children had all of their needs met. When they were able to retire they went back home and bought a house in Isabel, Puerto Rico where they had been living for the past 8 years. Their home is where my mother’s family grew up and continues to be there until today.
I am from Washington Heights, NY, but spent my summers and holidays in Isabela, Puerto Rico. I continue to spend much as much time in Puerto Rico as my schedule allows as it is where my mother is now.
I am raising money for my families in Arroyo and in Isabela. My family and the neighborhood I grew up in has been damaged severely and am trying to raise any amount of money that I can in order to help bring about some comfort and help to my family. This whole situation is heartbreaking knowing there are so many people that need help, especially my family, and I don’t have the means or the resources to help as much as I want to.
The funds will used to purchase and send items they need. They need batteries, solar chargers, water, water purifiers, lanterns and money. If there is money left over it will be divided amongst my families in Puerto Rico.
My family is able to receive packages, so purchases can be mailed to them.
