Help for Daniel M. McClure

When mom and dad split, nothing ever seemed to be okay with my father. He spiraled down into a deep, dark depression and it seemed like nothing would pull him out unless it was my mother’s love. My dad decided to move back to California to hopefully regain his sense of happiness and self-worth. He was always the most cheerful when he lived near the ocean. It’s where his heart belongs. I stayed in contact with him as he battled with his addiction and self-hatred. He was hurt. He was in love and raised all three of his kids for seventeen years. One day it was all gone in a blink of an eye. Years later, my father found Laura and fell deep in love with her. She was an amazing woman who seemed to know the trick of how to make my father’s heart happy and healthy. He started surfing again and always had a goofy smile on his face. He was himself. Sadly, their relationship ended very quickly one night when Laura got hit by a car and was killed instantly. This was the last straw for my father. He picked back up his addiction rapidly. He had truly lost everything. He got kicked out of the house he was living in and had nothing left but a van and his german shepherd, Yogi.
My father has been homeless for three years now. He was living out of his van for the first two years, until finally the police repossessed it for the buildup of parking tickets. Locals who live in the area have seen my father riding around on a red bicycle. Some of them stop him to talk for a while. But sadly, Yogi is no longer along for the ride. Animal control took her from my dad and wouldn’t give her back until he paid his 700$ in tickets. I am currently writing this story aboard a plane. I’m two hours away from Los Angeles with my sister Madeline and we are going to find and get him back on his feet. We need help with the expenses that will be placed upon us. We love and miss him very much and are very hopeful that our father will come back to Louisiana with us and receive the help that we are offering him. Any amount of donations will help on this long, heart wrenching journey. The money will cover medical help, food, housing, rehabilitation, and traveling. Thank you for helping us and please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
