Many thanks to my friend John Summers for helping to set up this page, as he has done before.
To those of you who have helped me in the past, you have my sincere and heartfelt gratitude. Your generosity and kindness have gotten me through several very rough years. In case I haven’t said it to you personally -- and I can't say it enough -- THANK YOU.
There IS some good news. I've enlisted the help of an advocate (of sorts) who is helping me to navigate the system for Medicaid and Social Security supplemental and disability income. Also, I'm applying once again to the Broadcasters Foundation of America for any help they may be willing to offer (my first application was declined in 2013). My health is improving; I seem to be getting stronger, thanks to a careful diet and exercise. I'm able to get out of the house and go to the doctor without much physical assistance, although someone else has to do the driving. My spirit and my faith remain undiminished.
All of these things notwithstanding, once again I have run out of money. My savings are depleted, and I cashed in the last of my retirement accounts in early 2017. In addition to my basic household and living expenses, my property taxes and medical bills are due (in some cases, overdue). It can take anywhere from two to four months for help from Medicaid or the BFOA to arrive, and even longer for SSI. My back is against the wall, and I need your help.
If you know me, you know this is a very difficult thing for me to ask, but for the time being I have no other option. If you have helped before, I am grateful, and hope you will help again. If you have not helped before, could you help now? The need is urgent, and it is immediate. Any funds received will be applied directly to my living and medical expenses. There are no more luxuries.
